Love For The Streets in Manchester

An exhibition of work produced by Manchester’s homeless community will be displayed at The Whitworth Art Gallery on Saturday 10th of March to mark the start of Manchester Homelessness Awareness Week (10th-17th March).

Students from Manchester School of Art worked with participants from Greater Together Manchester’s night shelters and Cornerstone on the project. Over 6 weeks the artists produced a range of work including portraiture, weaving, tile-making and street art. The project was organised by Love For The Streets, a non-profit organisation led by a team of young social entrepreneurs under the age of 25, which aims to get more students engaged in volunteering with homeless charities.

The homeless participants who took part in the project and the students who were involved in the workshops will be at the Whitworth Art gallery from 10am to 5pm on Saturday 10th march to celebrate the work produced. The event will include a large display of visual art, interactive workshops, live music and films showcasing the work of the local charities.
